HANDS-ON CARDIAC MRI - 3days - April 9th-11th 2016

International course for technologists/radiographers and interested physicians in cardiac MRI (CMR) at the cmr-academy in Berlin.

This course is designed for MR technologists/radiographers and physicians who are interested in obtaining knowledge about the principles and clinical practice of CMR. The course is designed both for beginners as well as for more advanced technologists in CMR contextualized for Philips users.

Depending on the level of expertise small groups (max. 5 participants) will work together in different type of practical sessions (50%) mixed with lectures (50%) covering the whole spectrum of CMR. During the practical hands-on sessions participants will perform their own examinations on volunteers, observe live clinical cases (e.g. adenosine and dobutamine stress MRI) and learn how to perform post processing of clinical CMR examinations. The practical sessions take place at the German Heart Institute which is equipped with state of art hard- and software (Philips, 3T Ingenia and 1.5T Achieva, Release 5).

The course faculty consists of highly experienced Philips application specialists, clinical scientists as well as physicians using CMR as an indispensable routine diagnostic tool in cardiovascular medicine.

Clinical aspects
General cardiac anatomy and physiology, indications for cardiac MRI, stress MRI: wall motion and perfusion, imaging of inflammation, late gadolinium enhancement, review of multiple clinical cases, tips and tricks

Physics
VCG, trigger modes, scan parameters, different sequence techniques

Practice
• Examination at volunteers / hands-on (Achieva 1.5T and 3T Ingenia) - LV function, black blood imaging, viability, coronary arteries, test scans of stress MRI
• Dobutamine- / adenosine stress MRI - examination of the patients (no hands-on)
